Foz do Iguaçu: the Brazilian destination where you experience three countries in a single trip.

Located at the far west of Paraná, Foz do Iguaçu is one of those destinations that surprises in every way. Famous worldwide for hosting one of the planet’s greatest natural wonders, the city goes far beyond the famous waterfalls.

Here, the main highlight is the unique experience of being at the triple border, where you can visit Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay in the same trip. This combination provides cultural, gastronomic, and even shopping immersion, all within minutes of each other.

The iconic Iguaçu Falls are just the beginning. Foz brings together experiences ranging from exuberant nature to monumental engineering, with exclusive tours, modern attractions, and excellent tourist infrastructure.

4-Day itinerary in Foz do Iguaçu

Day 1: Arrival, panoramic views, and sunset at the border

Arriving in Foz invites you to slow down, and your choice of accommodation makes all the difference in the experience. During our trip, we stayed at Eco Cataratas Resort, an option that combines comfort, contact with nature, and excellent facilities—ideal for relaxing or enjoying time as a couple or family.

In the late afternoon, the experience gains new angles at Yup Star Foz do Iguaçu, an 88-meter Ferris wheel that reveals a privileged view of the meeting of the rivers and the three countries.

Next, the Marco das Três Fronteiras (Three Borders Landmark) is a must-visit. Besides the incredible sunset view, the site offers a full experience with cultural performances and gastronomy. For dinner, we recommend Cabeza de Vaca, located within the complex and offering a meal with a privileged view of the triple border.

Day 2: Shopping in Paraguay and an evening experience

The second day begins with one of the region’s most sought-after attractions: shopping in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. To optimize time and have more comfort and security, the tip is to go straight to Shopping China Importados—one of the most complete places in the region, where you can handle nearly all your purchases in one space, with a wide variety of products and organized facilities.

At dusk, the Kattamaram catamaran cruise offers a distinctive experience at the meeting of the Iguaçu and Paraná rivers. The cruise passes important international bridges and combines scenery, live music, and gastronomy, creating a perfect atmosphere to relax and enjoy the end of the day.

Day 3: Falls, adventure, and exclusive experiences

The third day is dedicated to the destination’s greatest icon: Iguaçu National Park, home to the impressive Iguaçu Falls. The walkways allow you to contemplate different perspectives of the falls, with emphasis on the Devil’s Throat, one of the most striking scenes in South America.

For an even more intense experience, the Macuco Safari is a must. The tour combines a trail through the Atlantic Forest and a boat ride to the base of the falls, getting very close to the waterfalls—a thrilling and unforgettable experience.

Another big differentiator is the exclusive experiences inside the park, which have been gaining increasing attention. Among them, special access at dawn and at dusk completely transform the visit. With unique lighting—whether in the first light of day or the golden tones of sunset—and reduced visitor flow, the moment becomes more contemplative, quiet, and truly special.

To complement the day, Foz’s aquarium stands out as one of the city’s new attractions, being one of the largest in South America, with modern facilities and a focus on biodiversity.

Day 4: Grand engineering and new urban attractions

The visit to Itaipu Binacional impresses with its scale and importance. Considered one of the largest hydroelectric plants in the world in terms of energy generation, the tour reveals technical details and the project’s relevance to Brazil and Paraguay.

To close the itinerary, Mercado Público Barrageiro is a great choice. The space brings together gastronomy, culture, and local products, being a new meeting point in the city.

Other attractions to include in your itinerary

Foz do Iguaçu still offers several experiences that can enrich your trip:

  • Parque das Aves: close contact with Atlantic Forest birds
  • Chen Tien Buddhist Temple: tranquility and panoramic views
  • Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Mosque: a symbol of Arab influence in the region
  • Puerto Iguazú: Argentine cuisine, with typical meats and sweets
  • Argentine side of the falls: more immersive trails and new perspectives of the waterfalls
  • Helicopter tour: one of the most impressive experiences in the destination, with an aerial view of the falls and the vastness of the park
