New York at Year’s End: a dream lived on every illuminated corner.

Arriving in New York is already special. Now, arriving on December 25th, in the height of winter and with the city completely transformed by Christmas… it’s simply unforgettable.

We landed at JFK ready to live a dream: New Year’s in New York. Lights, snow, cinematic shop windows and that unique energy that only this city has.

And right on arrival, here’s the first Lovedica tip: we used Lecotour’s transfer, which brought convenience, comfort and safety—essential after a long flight and in such an intense city.

We went straight to our accommodation in Queens, the LIV Manhattan View Hotel, an excellent choice for those seeking value for money with easy access to Manhattan.

September 11 Memorial.

❄️ First impression: real winter

We left Orlando with sunny days… and the next day in New York we faced -4°C.

The thermal shock is real, and here’s an important warning: dressing in layers isn’t optional, it’s essential.

Good thermal base layers, proper coats and accessories make all the difference to enjoy the city comfortably.

🗽 Day 1: Brooklyn, snow and Times Square

We started at the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and here’s a golden tip: do the Brooklyn → Manhattan route to have the world’s most famous skyline in front of you.

The wind up there is intense, so bundle up well.

We went for coffee at Joe Coffee (a strategic stop to warm up) and explored charming DUMBO, with a mandatory stop at Washington Street for that classic photo.

Between walks: pizza on Front Street because, yes, New York is also about eating well.

And then… Times Square.

Snowing. Lights on. Giant billboards.

One of those moments that words can’t contain—you have to live it.

We ended the day exploring shops and even took a fun tuk-tuk ride.

❄️ Day 2: Central Park and the charm of 5th Avenue

The second day was even colder, and equally magical.

We took the subway (efficient and easy to use) to Central Park, completely covered in snow. A movie-worthy scene.

Strategic stop at Ralph’s Coffee and we continued exploring with delicious stops like Ladurée.

Next, the iconic 5th Avenue: impeccable window displays, luxury stores and a vibrant energy.

We visited St. Patrick’s Cathedral (free entrance and a must-see) before heading to one of the city’s most incredible experiences:

Summit One Vanderbilt (Lovedica): Buy tickets in advance, it’s one of NY’s most sought-after attractions. We went at 6pm, and it was simply perfect.

From the elevator to the mirrored and interactive rooms (including the famous ball room), everything impresses.

And the highlight: the view of New York at dusk, as the city gradually lights up.

We ended the night with a classic at Shake Shack and went to the Saks Fifth Avenue light show and the iconic Rockefeller Center, with the world’s most famous Christmas tree. Pure magic.

🗽 Day 3: History, architecture and Broadway

We began the day with one of the city’s most symbolic tours:

Statue of Liberty and Liberty Island.

⚠️ Attention: buy tickets only from the official website and in advance.

We chose access to the pedestal and departed Battery Park by ferry. The trip already offers incredible views of Manhattan and the emotion starts even before arriving.

On the island, besides the classic photos, we explored the museum and learned the historical importance of this global symbol.

We continued to the modern Hudson Yards, visiting the impressive Vessel and the adjacent mall.

Next stop: Chelsea Market, a gastronomic paradise. Special tip: Lobster & Kitchen (simply unmissable).

At night, we fulfilled a dream: Broadway with the musical Mamma Mia! light, fun and engaging.

🏙️ Day 4: Memory, culture and iconic neighborhoods

A more reflective day began at the 9/11 Memorial Museum, a place of respect, memory and great emotion.

We continued through the World Trade Center, a symbol of rebuilding and resilience.

Then we walked to the Charging Bull in Wall Street, surrounded by symbolism and tradition.

We also explored:

SoHo: art, cafés and urban charm

Chinatown: intense and bustling

Little Italy: our favorite: cozy, charming and delicious

We ended the day with dinner at Empire Steak House, a memorable dining experience.

🌇 Day 5: Views and different experiences

We started the day in Long Island City, with one of the best views of the Manhattan skyline.

We moved on to the surprising Little Island, a modern park over the Hudson River, and Pier 57, perfect for eating and relaxing.

And an important rule: see a Levain Bakery? Stop. Trust us. Delicious.

✨ Day 6: farewell and New Year’s Eve

Our last day of the year began with coffee at Ralph’s Coffee and an emotional visit to St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

We revisited our favorite spots: Rockefeller, Radio City and the surroundings, facing the inevitable: the city is PACKED at this time.

We also visited Bryant Park, with ice skating, little shops and typical foods (yes, we even found coxinha!).

The countdown was celebrated in a special way:

A dinner at the hotel, closing the trip with gratitude.

✈️ Time to say see you later

On January 1, 2026, we said goodbye to New York and headed to Miami, certain we had experienced one of the most magical trips of our lives.
